Artist. Lyricist. Educator. Theatre-Maker.
“If you are a dreamer, come in
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hoper, a pray-er, a magic-bean-buyer,
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax golden tales to spin!
― Shel Silverstein

Graduation from NYU Tisch, Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program
Sam just graduated from NYU Tisch, earning her MFA in the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program as a lyricist. To qualify for this degree, Sam wrote book and lyrics for a full length musical, Night Witches, with composer/co-bookwriter, Stephen Wagener Bennett. While they did not receive a 29 hour reading through their program due to COVID-19, the pair had a Zoom table-read and also had a song featured in the end of year cabaret for their cycle. Sam is a proud double-NYU alum and can't wait to see what the future holds!
Sam is hard at work with her thesis collaborator, Stephen Wagener Bennett, on her thesis project, Night Witches, a musical about the first all-female night bomber pilot regiment. Taking place in the Soviet Union during WWII, Night Witches details the perseverance and determination of these women who fought alongside their male counterparts to win the war. Night Witches received a Zoom table-read on April 24th and was submitted to the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program for MFA qualifications on May 10th.

A Princess Story
In addition to Night Witches, Sam is also writing a musical with her collaborator, Elspeth Collard, entitled A Princess Story. A Princess Story defies and denies the “damsel in distress” trope, choosing instead to put the princess front and center as the main heroine of the tale. Following Princess Annalise in a quest to slay a dragon, our story features an LGBTQ+ love story, a dynamic pair of strong leading female characters, and a boy band of knights.
